  1. OneNote is now free and offers amazing apps for iOS and Android, as well as Mac and Windows. You don’t need a subscription to use its full features, unlike Everynote.

OneNote has every feature I need and over the past year, has improved and enhanced its feature set.

You have to ask yourself if you need to pay about $50 for Evernote’s features that come free with OneNote. I’m a former Evernote user who — pissed off about their messing up their own Penultimate app for iPad — decided, in anger, to try OneNote. I’ve since migrated my notes there and won’t go back to Evernote. I’ve shut down the autorenewal option there and when my account renewal comes around, I’m bidding it goodbye.

My advice is to try OneNote – it’s free anyway. No risk and if you like it you can migrate over to it (by emailing your notes to your OneNote email address and importing them.
